Game of thrones should not be watched by children because it is indeed full of violence, sex, and really dark topics. however, as someone who started watching the show and read one of the books at around 11 to 13, so a pretteen/teen, and watched other potentially way too graphic material at a young age (with older siblings and no parents around, of course..
